Making hay for charity

Making hay for SOSAD

Farm contractors in Meath were working hard today, cutting 30 acres of hay, which they will sell to raise funds for the suicide charity, SOSAD.
The hay, on land at the Kilbeg road, Carlanstown was cut this afternoon by eight farm contractors, working together, free of charge.
Peadar Farrelly one of the contractors and spokesman for Farm Contractors Ireland (FCI) said they wanted to this for SOSAD because of the amount of suicides in the region and across the country.
“We wanted to give help to a charity that raises awareness and tries to prevent these tragedies,” he said.
The owner of the land involved wished to remain anonymous.
The mowing was a colourful sight as the contractors gathered to mow the land, a job which took just around an hour in glorious sunshine.
More contractors from the county will be involved in bailing it at the weekend and the proceeds of the sale of the hay will go to SOSAD.
