Robbie Burlingham one of the promising young referees on duty at Leinster Feile today

Leinster Feile Blitz day

Teams from Meath and outside descended on 19 venues throughout the county this morning for the Leinster Feile Blitz that started at 11.00am.

The event coincided with the national Feile in Derry (Na Fianna are representing Meath).

Four to five teams played a round robin series at each venue with each of 30 minutes duration.

The Leinster event provided an opportunity for players and mentors to experience some inter-county football on the pitch.

Former Meath minor goalkeeper Robbie Burlingham (was the u-21 goalkeeper this year) has turned his talents to refereeing and was on duty at Simonstown with Martin Griffin to handle the six scheduled games at the venue.

'I decided to start refereeing and I like it, you get the usual comments from the sideline, but generally it's okay,' Robbie told meathchronicle.ie this morning.

Apart from Simonstown, the other teams at the Navan venue included Dunshaughlin, Sallins and Celbridge.

Meath coaching offiicer and former Meath senior football manager Eamonn Barry is co-ordinating the event and was a busy man this morning.
