Sporadic traffic congestion in Navan

Traffic is starting to build in Navan ahead of the Slane concert today with the junction at the Poolbuoy Bridge causing some serious intermittent backlog due to the reliance on the standard traffic light control.

With the gates at Slane open from 3pm the volume of traffic through the junction at the Meath Chronicle (old N3) towards the Poolbuoy Bridge junction about 200 metres further on is causing a major tailback.

The left lane for Kells is generally traffic-free.

Some drivers are opting to pull out into the outside lane of the old N3 Dublin bound to access the right turn to the Kentstown Road.

With Ham Sandwich on stage at 3.30 and Bressie at 4.30 the congestion is likely to continue with concert traffic and Saturday shopping traffic vying for access to one-lane of roadway that caters for about 20 cars turning right at any one time.

The knock-on is causing a tailback up Carriage Road and back out the Trim Road.

The Coronas are due on stage at 6pm with Bon Jovi at 7.30pm
