This Friday, 31st May, a lunchtime Drogheda Heritage Tour takes place.  This one hour guided walk of some of the town’s heritage sites starts at Drogheda Tourist Office at the Tholsel. Also on Friday is a Drogheda Evening Ramble, with a registration point  at The D Hotel, Drogheda, at 6.30pm.
On Saturday, the Tara to Trim walk is at 9.30am, with a stop for refreshments at Bective Abbey. Registration point is at Trim Castle Hotel, with transport to Tara from Trim.  It is 20 km  and will take about six hours, with a fee of €15. The second half of our walk is completely off-road along the banks of the Boyne river.
On Sunday, the St Patrick’s Way walk in Slane of 12 kms begins at 9.30am, takes four hours at a €10 fee. Hosted by the newly founded Slane Striders,  this looped walk is designed to stay off-road and explores the wonderful views and places of interest in the Slane area, with a break at Slane Farm Hostel for light refreshments.
Established in 2011, the objectives of the festival has evolved over this period, with the main aims of developing off road walking and connect places of interest in the Boyne Valley; working with OPW, walking groups, landowners and local authorities; promoting walking as a tourist activity in Drogheda and Boyne Valley; assisting in developing permanent walking routes in the Boyne Valley; using local guides to tell the stories of the valley; and helping promote walking to and from our local schools.
