Becky to shave head in fundraiser

A brave 15 year old Carlanstown girl will have her beautiful long hair shaved off on Saturday 1st June in a fund raising drive for Crumlin Hospital and the Gary Kelly Centre in Drogheda.
Becky Purfield will have her head shaved at her home at the Village Green in Carlanstown at around 5pm, but the fund-raiser at her home begins around 3pm.
There will be entertainment, a barbecue and face painting as well as a gathering of friends, family and neighbours.
Becky decided to do this fund raiser because of two family members who recently faced illness.
Her little cousin, Charlie, was born with a hole in his heart and had open heart surgery in Crumlin and her grandad, who lives with her, is living with cancer.
She wanted to do something for them and decided to raised funds for the children’s hospital and the cancer support centre by shaving her head. She has had amazing support from family, friends and many people from all around.
Becky is a daughter of Shirley and Martin Purfield and has two sisters, Kayleigh and Aoife and they all agreed to do what they could to help.
Becky is a student of O’Carolan College, Nobber and is due to sit her Junior Cert exams on 5th June.
Her Mum, Shirley says Becky is determined to do this, but is worried about losing her hair.
“She loves her hair, so it will be difficult,” she said.
