Eureka Kells to get new school building

The long awaited new school building for Eureka Secondary School in Kells is set to become a reality.
Funding for the school was announced today as part of the Government’s stimulus package and the new facility, on the Cavan Road, is expected to be completed in 2016.
The government has announced a €60million building programme for five schools around the country, which will create 750 jobs in construction and see new classrooms for 4,600 pupils.
Deputy Helen McEntee welcomed the announcement that a new school building will be delivered as part of a Public Private Partnership.
“It is fantastic news that after a number of years waiting, the Eureka school is finally going to get a new school building. The existing site is out-of-date and overburdened, and I am sure that staff, pupils and parents will be delighted with the prospect of a new school building.
“ The completion of a new school will be a huge boost to the town of Kells, and all of those living in the surrounding areas. This new school will hopefully serve local pupils and parents for decades to come.
“I know a lot of work has been going on at a local level for several years, involving all political parties, in a bid to secure a new building for Eureka. All of those involved should be commended,” she said.
