Personal stories of Hill of Tara sought for memories project

The Hill of Tara is the subject of a new and exciting project by Wexford artist Michael Fortune who is gathering information on what Tara actually means to people.

Between now and July, the artist is inviting people to get involved in the project by contributing their personal experiences of Tara. Stories and photographs will be published on a dedicated website, mytara.ie and on a Facebook page called My Tara Project. A selection will also be included in a book of photographs, which will be launched in September 2013.

Stories and photos can be about something which happened five minutes, five years or 50 years ago; a family picture taken when a relation was home from abroad; an account of a walk you regularly take there; an early morning sunrise you witnessed from the site. Contributions are welcome from anyone; local residents, visitors, international tourists; natives and strangers alike and may be sent by email to mytaraproject@gmail.com or posted on the Facebook page. The artist is also available to meet people and may be contacted by phone at 087 6470247. As well as meeting people on the Hill of Tara, Michael has been busy working on a section of the project with the support of pupils from Skryne National School and their teacher Kieran Fanning.

This project is supported by the Arts and Heritage Office's of Meath County Council as part of their ongoing creative exploration of the Hill of Tara.
