Cavan sink the Royals

Meath slumped to a disappointing NFL Div 3 defeat at Páirc Tailteann tonight where Cavan took the local bragging rights with a 0-15 to 1-6 victory. This was a poor Meath display and they trailed by 0-1 to 0-10 at the interval with Michael Newman taking the blank look off the scoreboard. For a positive, Meath won the second-half, but more importantly, Kevin Reilly returned to action as a second-half substitute at midfield and got through the 35 minutes without any apparent problems. Newman added 1-2 for Meath after the break and Graham Reilly also sent over a brace of points. At this stage of the campaign Meath are rooted in the relegation zone and play Roscommon next weekend.
