Line up for 'Celtic Concert at the Castle' unveiled

Details of the 'Celtic Concert at the Castle' which is set to be one of the highlights of this year's Trim Celtic Festival, have been unveiled. The free event, which will take place in the car park of Trim Castle on Saturday, 16th March will feature local bands the Furry Gilberts, Stormy Mondays, Four Day Weekend as well as Elvis aka Timmy Ryan and the Carney School of Dance. The event is being held in conjunction with the Gathering and takes place from 6pm to 10.30pm Celtic Festival Chairperson Ray Butler said it will be a family night out with music to suit everbody's taste as well as bouncy castles and face painting. He said the concert is generating huge interest and that local hotels are already seeing a lot of bookings. Deputy Butler is encouraging people from across the county to come along and enjoy the free event. The five-day Celtic Festival to celebrate St Patrick's Day gets under way in Trim on Thursday 14th March and runs until the Bank Holiday Monday, 18th March. The theme of this year's festival is The Gathering. On Thursday, 14th March, an art exhibition featuring local artists will be launched in Trim Library and continues until 27th March. The Celtic Queen competition takes place in the Bounty Bar on Friday 15th March with the winner having the honour of leading the parade on Sunday, On St Patrick's Day, the popular annual Daft Raft Race, organised by Trim Canoe Club, will take to the Boyne at 1pm. As always, the parade will take place at 3pm and promises to be a great family event. The kiddies' corner will also be open in the town hall, That night, a céili mór will be staged in Trim GAA Centre, held in conjunction with Scurlogstown Olympiad. Music will be by the Glenside Céilí Band. On Monday night, the presentation of prizes of the winning floats in the parade will take place in the Bounty Bar.
