Simonstown end long wait for u-21 title

Simonstown Gaels ended their long wait for an u-21 FC title when they defeated Donaghmore/Ashbourne 1-14 to 0-16 at Páirc Táilteann on Sunday. Macdara Fitzpatrick netted a goal for the Gaels in the opening half of normal time but they had to rely on a last-gasp Sean Tobin point to force extra-time. It finished 1-9 to 0-12 at the end of normal time. With the sides still level at the closing stages of extra-time Padraig McKeever popped up with what turned out to be the winning point.
