Death of poet and writer, Tommy Murray

The death occurred suddenly on Saturday morning, 3rd November, of the well-known award-winning Trim poet and writer, Tommy Murray. Mr Murray published numerous books on local history, as well as short stories and poetry. His main poetry collections are 'Counting Stained Glass Windows' (Belfast, Lapwing Press, 2009), and 'Swimming With Dolphins' (Lapwing Press, 2012). He won 40 awards for literature, including the Nora Fahy Prize. Aged 81, he was due to give his children's writing class in Trim Library when he fell ill. He was husband of Josephine and loving father of Anne, Bernadette, Elizabeth, Joan and Carmel and grandfather of Raymond, Rachel, Tommy, Ryan, Sarah, Sarah Jo, Ruth and Aine and great-grandfather of Aoife; he will be greatly missed by his loving family, brother Kevin, step-mother Maureen, step-brothers and step-sisters, sons-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family and friends. Arrangements Reposing at Heffernan's Funeral Home, High Street, Trim, Sunday, from 4pm to 7pm and on Monday from 3pm with Removal at 6.15pm to St. Patrick's Church, Trim, arriving at 7pm. Funeral on Tuesday, after 11am Mass, to St Loman's Cemetery.
