Hurley called into Irish squad

Denis Hurley from Kells has been called into the Ireland rugby squad following the injury to captain Brian O'Driscoll. The Munster full back will meet up with the camp at Carton House this evening and train with the squad tomorrow in advance of the November internationals against South Africa and Argentina. The IRFU released a statement stating that Hurley has been drafted into the squad as 'an extra back' to replace O'Driscoll. Former Navan under-age player Hurley received his first full cap at international level when he came on as a replacement for Ulster's Darren Cave in Ireland's match against the USA at Santa Clara University, California in June 2009. In 2008, Hurley made his Heineken Cup debut for Munster in a victory over Gloucester before going on to retain his place on the team for a victory over Toulouse at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. His father Jerry Hurley, lives in Kells and is one of the driving forces behind the recently established North Meath RFC.
