Augustinian Choir's concert and CD launch

Drogheda's Augustinian Gospel Choir is releasing an album and is holding a "spectacular" concert on 11th November. The uplifting music of the choir shot to national attention with the launch of the 'The Gift' CD last year and since then the 36 member choir has been preparing the new album, 'Reach Out'. The 14-track album includes five original songs written by Gerry Simpson - the choir's musical director - and nine songs from a selection of the choir's favourites. The on 11th November is in the Augustinian church at 8pm. Entry at €20 includes a CD of the album. Special guests on the night will be Pat Coldrick of classical guitar fame, and Gerry Mulroy. The church will be transformed for the night with a specialised sound system and light show and the concert will have a camera crew recording it, with some exciting plans for the footage shot. Gerry Simpson, co-writer of 2000 Eurovision entry sung by Eamonn Toal, said: "The album is called 'Reach Out' because that's exactly what the choir wants to do - to reach out to people and bring some joy and happiness to them."
