Jan celebrates 40 years in Navan with charity concert

'Jan is Forty … Years in Navan' is a concert to recall Jan Muylleart's living in Navan for the last 40 years, at the Solstice Arts Centre Navan, on Friday 16th November at 8 pm. Tickets are €25 with all proceeds to be donated to three local charities, Navan Arch Club, Navan River Rescue and Bohermeen Athletics Club. The show will feature performances by professional musicians from Ireland and abroad on a wide range of stringed instruments made by the Belgian native. He will introduce the artists and will recall short anecdotes from 40 years in Navan . The instruments featured will include Irish harp, violin , guitar and mandolin. Performers include Muylleart ( guitar , mandolin and vocals); Helen Davies on Irish harp ( Wales and Denmark); Pat Coldrick, classical guitar (Navan); Aileen and Aine Kennedy on Irish harp and violin (Gorey, Co Wexford) and many other local accomplished musicians. An Introduction to the concert by Peter Finnegan ,Communique International, Dublin, brother of Jan's wife Marie Finnegan. Later, an exhibition including some of his instruments , work-related drawings, paintings, live drawings, woodcarving , marquetry, and photographs spanning 40 years will run from 26th till the 30th November in the foyer of the Solstice Arts Centre in Navan. The exhibition will be officially opened by Ann Meldon Hugh , local sculptor. A live performance on classical guitar by Pat Coldrick will entertain the guests at the opening. Some of the items on display will also be on sale with proceeds going to local charities. A selection items from the exhibition will go on display afterwards at Navan Library for a short period.
