Gardai renew fatal accident witness appeal

Gardai in Dunshaughlin have renewed their call for witnesses to the fatal crash at Roestown, Dunshaughlin which claimed the life of 24 year-old Fionnan O'Kane. The collision occurred on Friday 28th September about 4.45am on the Dunshaughlin to Navan Road, approx 1km outside Dunshaughlin. There were two occupants in the car, a female driver (23), who was taken to Blanchardstown Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the deceased, who was transferred to Navan Hospital. Gardai are particularly interested in speaking to any drivers of heavy goods vehicles or trucks which may have been on late night runs. Fionán O'Kane of Fána Rua, Kells Road, Kingscourt, Cavan , and formerly of College Park, Dunshaughlin, was son of Tim (Kilrea, An Doire) and Patricia (nee O'Doherty, Portglenone, Co Antrim), and is sadly missed by his heartbroken parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, girlfriend Bláithín and many friends. His funeral took place from St Mary's Church, Portglenone, Co Antrim to Aughnahoy Cemetery on Monday, 1st October.
