Book on 'Iron Duke' to be launched at Trim Walled Town Festival

A talk on Trim's town walls and a free family fun afternoon on Sunday 19th August, will be some of the highlights of this year's Trim Walled Town Festival. There will be many new additions to this year's festival which is organised by Trim Town Council and supported by Trim Chamber of Commerce and the Meath Heritage Cetnre. On Wednesday 16th August, there will be the launch of a new booklet on Wellington in the OPW offices. Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington, was the most famous member of Trim Corporation and this year marks the 160th anniversary of his death. The booklet was written by Lady Elizabeth Longford and there is a new introduction by David Norris. The launch will be carried out by Eliza Pakenham, who is a descendant of Wellington's wife's family. On Friday 17th August there will be a medieval arts and crafts for children age three to ten years in Trim Library. Sunday 19th August is the main day of the festival. On Sunday morning, archaeologist Finola O'Carroll will provide an insight into the town walls of Trim. The meeting point is the Tourist office at 11.30am.
