Local man remains in critical condition after Navan assault

A young Navan man remains in an critical condition in Dublin's Beaumont Hospital this week, following an altercation in the town in the early hours of Saturday morning. The man, named locally as Brendan Quinn from Herbert Place, suffered severe head injuries in the incident which took place at around 3.30am on Saturday. He was found lying unconcious in the Old Cornmarket area of Navan by gardai, following a brief altercation with a motorist. He was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda and subsequently transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where he remains in an extremely critical condition. According to gardai, Mr Quinn appeared to have been heading home after a night out when the incident occurred. He has been described as a quiet young man who was very well-liked. Gardai detained a suspect on Saturday night folliowing search of the local area and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
