Flix is back in Kells...for one night only

Flix nightclub, once a fabled spot for disco dancing in north Meath, is back for one night only on Friday 6th July when anyone who danced their way around the Headfort Arms Hotel venue is invited to do so again. It will be a night of nostaglia down memory lane at the reunion disco in Kells, which takes place in aid of the cardiac unit of Crumlin's Children's Hospital. This event and others have been inspired by the passing of two-month-old baby Jamie Coyle from Kells, who was cared for by the cardiac team in Crumlin until his passing in February this year. Jamie, who was born with a heart problem, was the first child of Alisha and Mark Coyle. The couple have said they are grateful to Dr Orlaith Franklin and all the team in Crumlin for their care and support while Baby Jamie was there. To show their ongoing support for the work they do, Alisha and a group of five friends are undertaking various fundraising efforts to raise funds for St Therese's Cardiac Ward. They have already completed the Flora Mini-Marathon earlier this month, which raised €4,000. "The reaction on the Facebook event page has been fantastic. We are expecting to see a lot of faces not seen in Kells in a long time to show up on the night," said co-organiser Tracey Hughes. Music on the night will be from the '80s and '90s and former Flix DJ, Ken Murray, will dust off his vinyl records for the occasion. Those who arrive early on the night will get a light supper, which is no longer a feature at disco-dancing events. Admission on the night is €10 and everyone is invited along to share in the fun and help raise some money for a very worthwhile cause into the bargain.
