Ruth has the edge

SATURDAY 2nd JUNE Great Britain's Ruth Edge is currently leading the two feature classes at Tattersalls International Horse Trials & Country Fair in association with Horse Sport Ireland Great Britain's Ruth Edge dominated the dressage phase of both the Irish Field CCI*** and the George Mernagh Memorial CIC*** classes at the Tattersalls International Horse Trials and Country Fair in association with Horse Sport Ireland yesterday. Riding Rogersdale in the CCI***, Edge finished her dressage test on a score of 41.4 ahead of current World Number 1 William Fox-Pitt riding Bay My Hero with a score of 41.6. In the CIC***, Edge leads the class partnered with Two Thyme on a score of 34.0. Ireland's Camilla Speirs riding Potersize Just A Jiff is lying in second position on 41.4 with fellow Irish competitor Aoife Clarke riding Master Crusoe in third on 42.4. Competitors in this class complete the cross country and showjumping phases of this competition on Sunday. Cross country action takes place today Saturday for the other competitions at Tattersalls. The newly introduced Dubarry Boyne Trophy competition sees teams from Ireland and Great Britain compete against each other in the CIC*** for the much coveted Dubarry Boot Trophy. Currently in the lead on a combined rider score of 133.2 is Great Britain with Ireland going into the showjumping phase of the challenge on a score of 141.8. "To have a team average of well under 50 is testament to the work the riders have been putting in. We are well in touch and hopefully we can make up ground in the other two phases," said Team Ireland Equestrian Eventing High Performance Manager Ginny Elliot. Currently in the lead in the Eventing Ireland CCI** is Australia's Christopher Burton riding Underdiscussion. Burton also takes the lead in the Land Rover CCI* class this time partnered with Graf Liberty. The Connolly's Red Mill's CCI** Under 25 class saw Ireland's Isabel Djanovic and Billy Buzz take the lead. Into the lead in the CCI* Junior class after the dressage phase was Ireland's Jodie O'Keeffe riding Kachemire Le Beau and leading the Dunboyne Castle Hotel and Spa Pony class is Co. Cork native Gavin Smiddy with Mr Hale Bob.
