Star Meath florist stamps her mark on Chelsea Flower Show

While Britain is getting ready to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee this weekend, Dunshaughlin had its own street party to celebrate a jubilee win. On Monday evening, the people of the town gathered to congratulate local florist Jenny Murphy from Flowers by Moira being named RHS Chelsea Florist of the Year, as she brought home a gold medal from the world's most famous flower show. The schedule, to produce a chandelier suitable to be hung at a Diamond Jubilee dinner for the Queen, produced some incredible and quite breathtaking work. Jenny's winning design was a structure of red roses, crimson phalaenopsis orchids and deep red arum/calla lilies. To really show the amount of dedication and effort put into the design, it also included 250 metres of crocheted silver wire. After painstaking preparation, the structure had to be transported from Ireland in three pieces before being carefully put together at the show. "I'm absolutely thrilled to have won," said Jenny. "It was the first time the British Florist Association had held the heats for the Chelsea competition in Ireland, and to win first time is incredible."
