Anna Byrne...body recovered from rocks near Howth Head.

Dunboyne community stunned by tragic death of pregnant mum

The Dunboyne community and the people of her native Sutton in Dublin have been devastated last week by the disappearance and death of 35 year-old mother-of-two, Anna Byrne from Beechdale, who was pregnant with twins when she went missing last Wednesday. The nurse was last seen on Wednesday morning at her home in Dunboyne, but the alarm was raised when she failed to collect her son from a creche on Wednesday evening. The alarm was raised by her family who were immediately concerned for her well-being. A signal from her mobile phone was picked up in Dun Laoghaire. Her brother, Ciaran Deeney, a filmmaker, organised a late-night search party on Wednesday in Dun Laoghaire. Her family believed that she may have gone to the port in order to take a ferry to the UK but later learned that there were no ferries leaving that day. Less than half an hour after searchers had gathered in Dun Laoghaire, Mrs Byrne's car was found at Howth Head. She was buried in Fingal Cemetery on Monday after the funeral Mass in the Church of the Resurrection, Bayside.
