Butterly workshops in Ratoath

The Venue Theatre in Ratoath, in conjunction with award winning singer-songwriter and musician Maria Butterly, will host a workshop aimed at all current and potential singer songwriters on Saturday 25th February. Admission is free of charge and it will take place from 12 pm to 2pm. This is a unique workshop which hopefully will see budding songwriters in attendance. Venue Manager Nick Killian stated: "This workshop comes from the amount of talent that we here in the Venue Theatre have witnessed over the last two years particularly during the heats of our Meath's Got Talent contest. In fact a local Ratoath girl Julie O'Neill was the eventual winner. All one needs is one song and with the right singer, you can reach a wide audience of people and get a No 1 hit. I invite all songwriters from all over Meath to come along and take part in this workshop with a very experienced songwriter from the county, Maria Butterly." Maria has experience of 15 years in the business having traveled and lived and toured from Los Angeles, to Nashville, New York and back to Ireland. Maria teaches her craft of songwriting, to put ideas down on paper and into song, how to be creative with words and melodies, rhyming lines, how to deliver the performance of a song, overcome shyness, calm the nerves to build confidence in live shows. It will look at: How do I write a song? Where do I begin? Do you like to sing? Do you play an instrument? Do you have words but no music?? Music but no words?? What to do from start to finish. The workshop will cover simple techniques to get you started and improve your singing and/or writing, playing your instrument well.
