FG 'cannot reveal' investors behind plan to build regional hospital

A row has erupted over the proposed new regional hospital for Navan, following recent comments by the Minister for Health, Dr James Reilly, that he had not had contact with private funding groups regarding the facility. He made the comments in response to a parliamentary question from Deputy Peadar Tóibín of Sinn Fein. Cllr Joe Reilly has now called on the four Fine Gael TDs to clarify the situation regarding their pre-election promises of a new regional hospital in Navan, saying it beggared belief that the Meath TDs would not have informed the minister of negotiations with private investors. However, Junior Minister Shane McEntee accused Sinn Fein of putting their own spin on parliamentary questions and said the proposed hospital was still on the cards. Fine Gael councillor John Farrelly said the identity of the investors could not be revealed until they had made a decision whether or not to invest.
