Skydive a memorable way to fundraise

Dear sir - One of the most exhilarating adventures for any person, young or old, is to exit an aircraft and fall through the air - to skydive. It's not so difficult, all you have to do is exit the aircraft; gravity does the rest! There are two types of skydive, a Tandem and a Solo. With the Tandem the newcomer is firmly attached to a highly experienced Tandem Instructor and both student and Tandem Instructor leave the aircraft together at 10,000 ft - nearly two miles high. The Tandem Instructor does most of the work, including opening the main parachute after 25 seconds of freefall, when you reach a speed of almost 200 Kilometres an hour. After the opening of the main parachute the student may, if he or she wishes, help to steer the large parachute, made for two people, to the landing area. The training for Tandem takes about one hour, including paperwork. The Solo skydive is, as the name implies, done by the student on his or her own. The main parachute is opened automatically as the student leaves the aircraft at 3,500 feet. The student steers the parachute to the landing area. The training course for the Solo skydive takes about six hours. You can do a Solo or Tandem skydive. You can pay for the course/jump yourself, or you can raise sponsorship for a charity, perhaps a local charity of your choice, or a national charity - that's up to you. Skydive Ireland's preferred charities for 2011-2012 are Make a Wish Foundation and ISIDA (Irish Sudden Infant Death Association) - but you can make a sponsored skydive for the charity of your choice. Skydive Ireland can provide the sponsorship cards. Skydive Ireland helps raise almost a half-million Euros for charities each year, a very worthwhile contribution to many organisations doing valuable work. You can be part of that. Another option is to give a gift of a Skydive Voucher. That also can be arranged. There are some conditions; you must be over 16 years (between 16 and 18 you would need the written consent of a parent or legal guardian), you must not be over 210 lbs/15 stone/90 Kg in weight, and there are certain medical conditions. For further information contact Liam McNulty at (087) 290 6492, and take to the skies. It's a fantastic experience, one you will always remember. Yours, Liam McNulty, Skydive Ireland.
