Halloween Horrors at Causey

Farmaphobia is the huge Halloween scare event running at Causey Farm between Kells and Athboy. The screams can literally be heard for miles around as visitors are treated to a medley of haunted mazes, dark walks and sinister theatrics. This is no cutie-pie pet farm at Halloween! Tortured creatures abound around the laneways, fields, sheds and ditches all the way up to Gallows Hill. One of the highlights this year is definitely Ghosts of Christmas, the high impact scare attraction which got rave reviews when it was staged in Scotland last year. Directors, set designers, makeup artists and actors all happily made the journey from a Glasgow city centre hotspot to their new home in the middle of a farm in Co Meath. Other highlights include a tribute to the late Amy Winehouse, an eerie visit to the grim reaper and a tunnel which leads through Gallows Hill - an uneasy journey in near darkness, not helped by the recent onslaught of chainsaw wielding farm-hands. Intensity is a series of metal cages populated by unfriendly escorts, who you must avoid to find your way to the exit. It is as it's name says, intense to say the least. The grand finale, Nightmare Manor, is a dark series of rooms populated by creepy clowns, diabolical creatures, family butchers (where the family is the product not the customer), special effects and general angst. Around every turn is a new surprise, some are just fun, some are downright chilling. The creators of this event certainly have a sense of humour -because sprinkled through the screams, there is a constant sound of laughter, possibly nervous giggling. Farmphobia runs on Friday 28th through to Monday 31st October from 7 pm daily and tickets are €15 per person. It is not recommended for children and it is strictly over 16s after 8.30pm. Booking is essential and you can book online at farmaphobia.com or by phone on 046 9434135.
