Denis Carolan launches 'All summer long' in Slane this Thursday night.

All summer long in Slane

Slane guitarist and songwriter Denis Joseph Carolan will launch his debut album 'All summer long' in Boyle's on Thursday night. The album features a rainbow blend of original upbeat rock, roots, and reggae tunes and is receiving very positive reviews. Carolan explains how his experiences living in Spain and travelling the world have coloured his music. "I began with an interest in blues and rock but my eyes and ears were opened when I heard how Spanish guitarists could weave together Flamenco and blues to make something a bit different," he says. Having opened for other songwriters (including Freddy White), and put in an apprenticeship on the songwriter and session circuit in Dublin, he had not felt quite ready until this year to make his own record. "It took me a long time to learn my 'chops' he explains. The album, recorded locally, turned out to be a lot more upbeat than I had expected. We chose a selection of songs which had a generally positive vibe and looking back now I'm very glad we did as there is enough doom and gloom around at the moment." 'All summer long' is available on itunes and in Tower Records. Check out www.deniscarolan.com for samples. Thursday's launch kicks off at 8.30pm.
