Replacement Referees' Co-ordinator sought
There will be a special meeting of Meath Co Committee next Monday at Aras Tailteann in Navan at 8pm where a replacement for the Referees' Co-ordinator will be sought. The one item that will not be on the agenda is the manager of the Meath team. "This meeting is scheduled to discuss the outstanding issue from the last meeting regarding the exemptions for players in the matter between Duleek/Bellewstown and Curraha," secertary Cyril Creavin commented today. However, it is understood that another item to be discussed will be the current vacancy for the position of Referees' Co-ordinator. That role was looked after by Jimmy Henry until this week, but Henry has resigned. Henry took over the role of Fixtures' Secretary this year and agreed to continue on in his former role as Referees' Co-ordinator after efforts to source a replacement were unsuccessful. Now it appears that a problem has arisen in relation to one person filling the two roles and Henry has resigned as Referees' Co-ordinator. When contacted by the Meath Chronicle both the Secretary and the Fixtures' Secretary declined to comment on the matter.
