Martin explains improvement

Tony Martin was on the mark again at Bellewstown today when Ruby Walsh partnered Corrick Bridge to victory in a three-mile handicap hurdle. Corrick Bridge was the horse that fell in a Down Royal steeplechase last November from which Walsh sustained a broken leg. The stewards interviewed the trainer regarding Corrick Bridge's improvement in form (finished 13th of 15 at Listowel last month) and accepted the explanation. Noel Meade and Paul Carberry were also on the mark again at the hillside track when odds-on favourite Tom Horn made it three wins in-a-row in a hurdle from the Ruby walsh-partnered Inspector Clouseau and Priors Gold (Keith Donoghue). Tthe Tote returns over the three days showed a five per cent improvement on last year with €324,347 wagered this year. The next racing at Bellewstown will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, 17th and 18th August.
