Slane date for Robin James Hurt

Appearing live in Boyles of Slane this week is Robin James Hurt, who has just released his new five-track EP, 'The Market House'. He's in Slane on Thursday night 23rd June. Born in Belfast, reared in Scotland and resident in Dublin for many years now, Robin James Hurt is a Scottish-Irish guitarist/singer who combines his unique re-arrangements of traditional material from Ireland, Britain and beyond, with stunning original compositions. Following on from the success of his previous releases (The Spider's Legs, 2007 EP, The Tallyman's Lament, 2008 album), Robin has been busy this year making a whole stock of new recordings. Named after a tune of Robin's, 'The Market House Jig', the EP was recorded with The Band of Moonlight Love, the loose group of outstanding contemporary folk musicians with whom Robin regularly appears. The first track, 'The Doonbeg Waltz', and the afore-mentioned "Market House Jig" were both composed in County Clare while Robin was performing several shows there last year, including one at the Market House Theatre in Miltown Malbay, which lent its name! Also featured on the EP are Robin's own unique and fresh arrangements of the perennial folk classics 'Arthur McBride' and 'Will Ye Go Lassie Go'. Robin is playing a series of special shows in some of his favourite small venues around Ireland over the summer to promote the EP. The gig starts at 9pm, with special guests, and admission is free!
