Meath selectors resign

Liam Harnan and Barry Callaghan have resigned their roles as selectors with the Meath senior football team. The departure of the two Meath men coincides with the return of Graham Geraghty to the Meath panel last Friday. It has not been confirmed that there is a link between the two and Meath Co Committee are citing 'personal reasons' for the departure of Harnan and Callaghan. Apparently Callaghan resigned yesterday (Saturday) and Harnan followed suit today. Meath defeated Westmeath in a challenge game at Rosemount on Friday and then negotiated Galway at a Galway venue, Graham Geraghty was in action today at the Race the Rás promotion, in aid of GOAL and the Irish Cancer Society, which started from Dunboyne this morning at 8am. It is understood that he only completed a a portion of the route to Portumna. Meath footballers will continue their preparations for the Leinster SFC quarter-final against Kildare amidst unprecedented distractions with the backroom team. Last year Harnan resigned his position as manager of the Meath u-16 football team after a number of issues arose and were not resolved to his satisfaction.
