Horgan bids for European glory

Shane Horgan is hoping that Leinster's strong work ethic will help them win the Heineken Cup for the second time in two years when they take on Northampton in the final at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday, 5.0. Horgan was on the Leinster team that defeated Leicester in the final at Murrayfield two years ago when Devin Toner was also involved. Now Horgan is hoping that they can make it a double this time around - and he feels the team's willingness to put in the hard graft could be crucial factor in their push for more honours. The Bellewstown man said there was no secret to Leinster's progress in recent years adding that the squad was made up of "grafters" willing to put in the extra effort. "We want an organisation that is very hard working, but which remains humble at the same time. An organisation that makes the most of the talent we have, but primarily it's about work ethic, professionalism," he added. Horgan played his part in Leinster's impressive Heineken Cup semi-final victory over Toulouse in a packed Aviva Stadium a few weeks ago when he made a number of high catches from Leinster's kick-offs. It provided his team with some valuable go-forward ball against the powerful French side. The former Lion has played 86 games for Leinster in the Heineken Cup and scored 27 tries and a drop goal. Earlier this season he marked his 200th game in the blue jersey. Thirty-three in July, Saturday's game could be Horgan's last chance to win another Heineken Cup medal and he could also get a call into Ireland's squad for the World Cup in the autumn. A big performance against Northampton game would go a long way towards helping him achieve that particular objective.
