Council seeks sign for motorway

Trim Town Council is trying to get a sign for the town erected on the M3. Councillor Phil Cantwell, who has raised the issue before at meetings, said he sees signs for Dunboyne, Dunshaughlin and Ratoath on the motorway but that Trim seems to be at the bottom in the pecking order when it comes to directing motorway users and visitors to the town. "It's unusual," he remarked, "that the capital town in the county in times past isn't there." When he enquired about a blue sign for the gantry above the motorway, town clerk Brian Murphy told him that the NRA had emailed flatly refusing any more signs and saying that it was better to get a brown heritage sign and write to the relevant authority. "Let's go for the possible over the impossible," agreed Cllr Ronan McKenna.
