Lent-like ban for jockey

Peterjon Carberry, a brother of Paul and the rest of the clan has been suspended 40 days for failing to ride out to the winning post for a second time within 12 months. The jockey was banned by the British Horseracing Authority at a hearing which convened yesterday. The incident under investigation arose at Uttoxeter in April when Monty's Moon (100/30 favourite) was eased down after the last flight in a handicap hurdle. Carberry claimed he mistook the winning post for another marker along the run-in. Last year he received a 10-day ban for a similar offence at Sandown.
