Massive cannabis seizure at Bective

Gardai have uncovered a growing operation of 1,720 cannabis plants in various stages of growth with an approximate value of €680,000, near Bective. As a result of an intelligence led operation, Gardai from the Garda National Drugs Unit assisted by members from Meath Drug and Detective Units, carried out a search of a farm and warehouses at Bective on 16th March around 2pm. During the course of the search Gardai discovered 1,720 cannabis plants in various stages of growth with an approximate value of €680,000 (subject to analysis). Five people, with ages of 40, 43, 37, 32 and 60, were arrested and were detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, in Kells and Navan Garda stations. This operation is a part of 'Operation Nitrogen' which investigates all aspects of cannabis cultivation.
