Meath falter against Longford

Meath's run in the Leinster u-21 FC ended at Pairc Tailteann tonight when they were out-played by a talented Longford side. Longford were ahead by 0-8 to 1-0 at half-time, but Meath eventually overhauled their opponents in the second-half and hit the front with four minutes remaining 1-8 to 0-10. Longford deservedly forced extra-time with a late point and then took over to lead by 0-16 to 2-8 at the interval in the extra-time. Meath's goal came from a penalty. Longford stayed in the ascendancy and Meath lost Ciaran Lenehan to a straight red card for a high and wreckless challenge. Longford also had a player red-carded near the end.
