Nick Killian (Fianna Fail)

Nick Killian was elected 12 years ago to Meath County Council and has served the Dunshaughlin area since. He is married to Anne and has six children. He lives at Ballybin, Ratoath, where he holds a weekly political clinic. He formerly worked with the Irish Press, in community development with Fingal and South Dublin County Council, and spent five years as personal assistant to Mary Wallace, before going on to work as CEO of the Irish Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. By being on the board of management of various schools and colleges since the 1980s and in his role as councillor, he says he has played an important role in delivering new educational facilities and extensions to schools which are now evident in Ratoath, Ashbourne, Dunboyne and Dunshaughlin. His determination to provide for an inclusive society is evident in the Ratoath Independent Living Initiative, which he founded. This initiative allowed 12 young people with physical disabilities to integrate into the Ratoath community. Cllr Killian is concerned by unemployment and has prepared a document for Meath County Council on job creation, which can be viewed on www.nickkillian.ie
