Meath side to face Dublin

Relatively successful years at minor level have failed to bring any glory at u-21 level for Meath, but on Wednesday night Liam Harnan will hope to break the mould when he leads the Royals into battle against Dublin in the Leinster u-21 FC at Pairc Tailteann, 7.30. Harnan has inherited the bulk of the minor team that claimed provincial honours in 2008, but has been dealt a blow with the news that Tommy Johnson picked up a hamstring injury with NUI Maynooth in the Sigerson Cup. Ballinabrackey's Damien Carroll is also out as he cracked his sternum in a challenge match. However, Dublin will be without their Kilmacud Crokes contingent and that may help swing the verdict in Meath's favour. The Meath Team to face Dublin on Wednesday night is: Conor McHugh (Oldcastle); Cian McPartland (Oldcastle), Sean Curran (Donaghmore/Ashbourne), Willie Ryan (Summerhill); Donal Keoghan (Rathkenny), Ciaran Lenehan (Skryne), Mark O'Sullivan (Moynalvey); Bryan Menton (Donaghmore/Ashbourne), Jamie Owens (Nobber); Paddy Gilsenan (Oldcastle, captain), Darragh Smyth (Navan O'Mahonys); David Larkin (Summerhill); Mark Battersby (Skryne), Niall Murphy (Dunshaughlin), Michael Newman (Kilmainham).
