After months of planning and weeks of hard work, Navan On Ice - the town's first ever real ice rink - opened to the public last Monday morning. “As we are only getting settled in for our eight-week residency here in Navan Racecourse, we were delighted to open the doors last Monday morning to an excited crowd,†said a spokesperson. “We have had a large number of bookings, with the public also being able to pay on the door. There will be 11 sessions a day for the next eight weeks, so we expect most of Navan and Meath will be able to get a spin on the ice,†he added. The first of the Solar Disco On Ice sessions will take place this coming Friday, 19th November, when large crowds are expected. Entries for the Meath Chronicle schools and clubs art competition are also due in this Friday, following which four lucky clubs/classrooms will be enjoy a free session on the ice. All information regarding Tony O'Reilly's shuttle bus service to Navan Racecourse, session times, classes, tickets, discos on ice and special offers can be viewed on the www.navanonice.ie website.
