Panda Waste takes Meath business title

The local company, which has grown from a two-truck operation in 1973 to a €50m turnover enterprise today with three state-of-the-art facilities in Meath and Dublin, employs some 200 people throughout its three premises. It is the largest cardboard and paper recycler in Ireland and is currently involved in a major development project to develop refuse-derived fuel from domestic waste. Its new €21 million plant at Beauparc, announced earlier this year, will convert waste into high-grade compost and a coal sustitute, while also producing electricity. This plant is expected to employ 40 people. In the tourism category, the overall winner on the night was Trim Castle Hotel.
