Newgrange to host 'Strictly Come Dancing’

St Mary’s Musical Society is hosting Navan’s first 'Strictly Come Dancing’ competition in the Newgrange Hotel this November. The society, which is now in its 43rd year and has earned a reputation for producing top quality productions such as the highly successful 'Stars in their Eyes’ will continue with a simlar theme with the popular 'Strictly Come Dancing’. The competition will combine many of Navan’s local sports clubs with dancers from SMMS who will compete for the AIB sponsored €1,000 first prize. Members of many of Navan’s top local sports clubs will team up with a dancer from the society. Dancing and representing their clubs are the following: Ben Garry (Navan Cycle Club), John Nyhan (Navan Tennis Club), Michele Farrell (Wolfe Tones GAA), Laura Carolan (Navan O’Mahonys GAA), Pat Purcell (Trim GAA), Cathal Farrelly (Parkvilla), Gerry O’Neill (Navan Tennis Club), Hank Traynor (Simonstown), Gus Martin (Dunderry GAA), Rory Gahan (Navan tennis club), Paddy White (Wolfe Tones), Nina Partis (Knights basketball), Elaine Doyle and Micheal Duffy (Simonstown badminton club) Six contestants will dance in the first heat on the 7th November with three going through to the final, the remaining dancers will dance in heat two on the 14th November with again three going through to the final on the 21st November. A mix of judges and audience votes will determine who makes it through to the final. Dates are 7th, 14th and 21st November at 8pm. Admission €10 at door.
