Bernadette returns to Drogheda stage

'Bernadette’ a drama by Duleek man Michael Ferguson returns to the local stage, opening in Drogheda’s Droichead Arts Theatre on Monday next, 8th November. Based on the life of 'St Bernadette’, the show with its stunning recreation of the appearance of the Blessed Virgin at Lourdes, played to packed houses earlier this year. “We are delighted to be back and we are advising people to book early so everyone who wants to see Bernadette will get the chance to do so,” said Michael Ferguson. He also directs the two local drama groups staging the production, the Duleek Players and Aisteoiri na Boinne. “Lead actress Geraldine Carey has made the part of Bernadette her own, while our award winning actress Betty Clinton gives a formidable performance as her tormentor Sister Vazous,” he says. After Drogheda the local thespians are taking Bernadette on tour with performances booked for Navan’s Solstice Theatre in late January. In the coming months Bernadette will be staged in theatres in the north east and further afield as part of the all Ireland drama festival competitions.
