Kerry National for Geraghty

Barry Geraghty kept the Meath flag flying at Listowel today when he won the Kerry National with Alfa Beat. Alfa Beat won his fifth race in-a-row when he claimed the €160,000 Guinness Kerry National in front of crowd of close to 30,000. Galway Plate winner Finger Onthe Pulse and Archie Boy, ridden by Dunshaughlin youngster Keith Donoghue, cut out the running, but Archie Boy fell four from home. Alfa Beat was sent up to join Finger Onthe Pulse at the third last and won by over three lengths. Paul Carberry gave up his remaining rides after a fall at the second fence from the Noel Meade-trained Oscar Looby. Last year's winner, Northern Alliance trained by Tony Martin, finished fifth.
