Record crowd at crossroads céilí
The recent 27th Annual Crossroads Céilí organised by Cairde Rince Céilí na hÉireann at Ughtyneill on the main Kells-Kingscourt Road attracted a record attendance. On the only dry night that week, dancers travelled from many parts of Ireland for this unique annual cultural event. Music was provided by the Tara Céilí Band. Ughtyneill native and chairman of the local branch of Cairde Rince, Tom Marry, in particular welcomed the members of the new clubs and classes in Tallaght, Dunshaughlin, Kilskyre, Ranelagh and Mount Merrion. He also thanked the other members of the committee who not only worked hard on the night but were active in promoting céilí dancing in the area all year. Weekly céilí dancing classes will recommence in all areas after the summer break.
