FEIS CUP

Blackhall Gaels v Dunshaughlin: The contrasting SFC form suggests that Blackhall Gaels could have it all their own way in this one. Leo Turley's side are unbeaten in the championship, while Dunshaughlin have lost to Walterstown and Seneschalstown. Only one outcome here. Verdict - Blackhall Gaels. Longwood v Kilmainhamwood: Confidence can give a side that extra edge in tight games and there is no club in the county with as much confidence as Longwood. The JFC champions are two wins from two in the IFC. Kilmainhamwood lost out to Nobber in the opening round. Verdict - Longwood Duleek/Bellewstown v Wolfe Tones: Buoyed by their recent losing run coming to an end Wolfe Tones will hope to make it two wins on the trot against Duleek/Bellewstown. The merged clubs struggled to find their stride against Donaghmore/Ashbourne in the championship and might have similar problems here. Verdict - Wolfe Tones. Rathkenny v Dunderry: Retaining their place in the SFC seems to be Rathkenny's major focus and while Dunderry will also have their sights set on IFC glory they might benefit from a strong panel and be able to nick this one. Verdict - Dunderry. Seneschalstown v St Patrick's: Retaining their Keegan Cup is Seneschalstown's priority and while they will approach this contest in the right manner, they are unlikely to be going hell for leather. Verdict - St Patrick's. Ballinlough v St Ultan's: Another intermediate v senior contest and again the intermediate side might have the greater hunger for a sustained run in the Feis Cup. Home advantage will also aid Ballinlough as St Ultan's focus on retaining their senior status. Verdict - Ballinlough. Cortown v Simonstown: The fourth of the nine senior against intermediate games will give both sides an opportunity to bounce back from a disappointing championship last week. Cortown's loss to Gaeil Cholmcille leaves them in trouble and they'll have no Feis Cup to play for after this one. Verdict - Simonstown. Navan O'Mahonys v Syddan: Even without their inter-county contingent there can only be one possible outcome from this game at O'Mahonys' fine new pitch at Brews Hill. If the senior side hit top form, Syddan could be in for a hiding. Verdict - Navan O'Mahonys. Skryne v Moynalvey: A return to his home club for Skryne manager Liam Harnan could be a bitter-sweet occasion as his senior side are likely to possess too much firepower for a Moynalvey outfit that have conceded 4-32 in two championship games and are pointless. Verdict - Skryne. St Colmcille's v Donaghmore/Ashbourne: Hunger will be the determining factor here and Donaghmore/Ashbourne are likely to be the side with most to gain from a victory. Momentum is key for Andy McEntee's side and they should maintain that here. Verdict - Donaghmore/Ashbourne. Na Fianna v Gaeil Cholmcille: Two sides with serious IFC aspirations might not be giving this competition their full attention. It could be an opportunity for fringe players to shine and Na Fianna might have the better pick. Verdict - Na Fianna. Nobber v Walterstown: As Forest Gump famously said - "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get" - well the same applies to Walterstown. Brilliant in their win over Dunshaughlin, fudged it when losing to Rathkenny. It could be coffee flavoured here. Verdict - Nobber. Carnaross v Trim: The light at the end of the tunnel that shone on Trim following their SFC draw with St Patrick's turned out to be an oncoming train against Wolfe Tones. Carnaross could mow them down here, but that's unlikely or is it? Verdict - Trim. Clann na nGael v St Michael's: After two IFC games, neither has a point to their name and with just 1-19 registered between them it is hard to see anything other than a low-scoring affair here. Will home advantage suit Clann na nGael? Maybe. Verdict - Clann na nGael. Castletown v Dunboyne: Home advantage can be of benefit, but Castletown might need a minor miracle and a huge slice of luck if they are to stay in touch with a Dunboyne side that has two wins from two SFC games. Verdict - Dunboyne. Oldcastle v Summerhill: With these two teams scheduled to meet in round five of the SFC this game could give one side the psychological edge. Oldcastle have had plenty of time to recover from their SFC opening round loss to O'Mahonys while Summerhill will still be reeling from last weekend's hammering by the Navan men. Verdict - Oldcastle. TAILTEANN CUP (with Conall Collier) Clonard v Drumree: Clonard went on a Junior B point-scoring spree against St Colmcille's. They could repeat that here against a team that has struggled to score points. St Mary's in the next round await the winner. Verdict - Clonard. Ballivor v Kilmainham: With Ballinabrackey waiting in the next round, Ballivor will be eager to advance and Kilmainham are unlikely to stop them. Verdict - Ballivor. Boardsmill v Dunsany: No respite likely for Boardsmill in this one, although Dunsany will be understrength. Drumbargh await in the next round. Verdict - Dunsany. Ratoath v Moylagh: Ratoath will probably pose too many questions for Moylagh in this one. Verdict - Ratoath. Meath Hill v Kilbride: Difficult to see Meath Hill reversing the JFC scoreline of two weeks ago on the way to a place in the last 16. Verdict - Meath Hill.
