Navan Travellers Workshops host European delegation

A major international youth conference took place in Navan recently when Navan Travellers Workshops (NTW) hosted visitors from six European countries as part of the European Youth Project, PathFinders. Youth leaders from Slovenia, Bulgaria, Finland, Scotland and Sweden joined their Irish colleagues for a week to discuss methods and ideas and to share experiences working with young people around Europe. The 20 participants took part in workshops, seminars and conferences throughout their stay. Navan Travellers Workshops took its job as hosts of the event seriously by providing trips for their visitors to the Hill of Tara and nights out at traditional music events. Their stay coincided with the St Patrick's Day festivities in Navan, and the visiting groups also took part the parade under the Pathfinders banner. Speaking at the end of the conference, NTW Ltd manager Michael McDonagh said: "This event was a great opportunity for Ireland and, in particular, Navan Travellers Workshops Ltd, to showcase the excellent youth work we are promoting in our community. "It was great to have the chance to get to know our European colleagues and share experiences and ideas. A big thank you is owed to all involved in organising the week and especially to the people of Navan who went out of their way to welcome these special visitors to the town."
