Gate slammed on Parkvilla

As has been the case on previous occasions this season the lack of sharpness in front of goals cost Parkvilla dearly in this LSL Div 1A encounter. Player/manager Alan Murphy sat this game out and he must have been hopeful his side would collect all three points as he watched them dominate possession in a scoreless opening half. Parkvilla goalkeeper Jack Walsh was a virtual spectator throughout the game and the only time he was really troubled was when Alan Kerr cleared off the line early in the second-half. At the other end Chris Kennedy, John Power and Davy Hosie had good efforts at goals. It was during a spell of pressure exerted by Parkvilla that the Dublin side broke for the only goal of the game. A long ball was played out of defence and a St James's Gate player finished well. The goal signalled an all-out attack by Parkvilla and Mark Brady produced a moment of sublime skill to create a chance with only a fine save from the opposition 'keeper preventing a goal. Dave O'Neill also tested the goalkeeper with a powerful drive that just cleared the bar. Kerr also saw an late effort whiz wide.
