Kells DJ Damien Farrelly has received his second nomination for a Meteor Music Award.

Kells DJ Damien Farrelly has been nominated for a Meteor Ireland Music Award, in the Best Radio DJ - National category. The 2FM jock faces competition from Ian Dempsey, Tony Fenton and Ray Foley of Today FM, and veteran Larry Gogan and Dan Hegarty, of 2FM. Farrelly's show broadcasts on RTE 2FM from 11pm to 1am Mondays to Thursdays. This year is the 10th anniversary of the Irish music industry awards, and home-grown acts including Westlife, The Scripts and The Coronas will take to the RDS stage on 19th February next alongside Florence and The Machine, Paulo Nutini and Snow Patrol. Irish music fans will be able to vote in nine categories for the awards, including Best Irish Band, where The Coronas are up against Bell X1, Delorentos, Snow Patrol and U2. The Best Irish Male nominees are Colin Devlin, Jerry Fish, Jack L, Christy Moore and Mundy. Up for the Best Irish Female award are Wexford-based Wallis Bird, who attended Robinstown NS when the family lived near Connell's Cross, Bective; Julie Feeney, Valerie Francis, Laura Izibor and Dolores O'Riordan. The nominees for Best Irish Pop Act are Delorentos, Laura Izibor, The Blizzards, The Script and Westlife. Amanda Byram will present the show, which will be aired the following night on RTE television.
