Bronze for Blaney in Azerbaijan

Navan boxer Christopher Blaney enhanced his reputation again when he won a bronze medal in Azerbaijan. Blaney, who lives in Wilkinstown outside Navan, took home a bronze medal from the 10-Nation Agalarov Youth Cup which took place in Baku over the past week. The Meath teenager qualified for the semi-final when he defeated a French opponent on a score 6-2. He met Ahmadov of Azerbaijan in the semi-final, but lost out on a silver medal (5-7) following a tight bout. This was a very successful tournament for this six-man Irish squad as they took home one gold, one Silver and four bronze medals.
