Trim launches loyalty card to encourage local shopping

Trim and District Chamber of Commerce launched the 'Treasure Trim' loyalty card in Trim Castle Hotel last Wednesday evening. The unique card, sponsored by Tom and Liz Lenihan of James Griffin's pub, allows shoppers who are issued with it to avail of special offers and discounts in all participating businesses in and around Trim. Up to 900 cards have now been distributed and the hope is that local people will keep their business in Trim this Christmas and New Year. "Offers will change regularly and there is wonderful value," said Trim Chamber president Yvette Bloomfield. "With the opening of 10 new shops, the state-of-the-art OPW headquarters building, employing almost 300 people, a superb new GAA clubhouse and the fabulous Aura Fitness and Leisure facility, Trim certainly has a lot to boast about this Christmas." She added that the Chamber is dedicated to reminding the people of the locality that there is a great variety of businesses and to shop local if at all possible. Some of the offers available include gin or Huzzar vodka and tonic for only €5 in James Griffin's pub (Lenihan's), a free muffin with every take-away lunch over €8 in An Tromán, a complimentary glass of wine with every evening main course in The Bailey Bar at Trim Castle Hotel, and, in Headstart Hairdresser's, buy two Kerastase products and receive a treatment worth €18. Because it is a two-way street and loyalty deserves recognition, the Chamber has called Santa and asked him if he would come to Trim on 5th December to help get everyone into the Christmas spirit. Santa will thus be arriving in his sleigh along with his elves, local donkey 'Raisins' and a number of cartoon characters at 4pm. As he reaches each street, the Christmas lights will magically be turned on.  Santa will finish up at his grotto (Formerly Daybreak/Centra on Market Street - generously sponsored by Councillor Gerry Reilly) where all the good children can visit him on 5th, 6th, 13th, 19th and 20th December. On Sunday 6th December, a special Christmas Artisan Food and Craft Market and Street Fair will take place in Trim. Local traders will take to their stalls on Market Street to showcase their wares in a throwback to yesteryear, while all the family can be entertained by street performers, face-painters and live music. And before all this happens, on Friday 4th December, David McWilliams and a number of local artists will be launching Trim Carbon Neutral 2025. "Through forward thinking, innovation and positive energy, the town of Trim will have a Christmas to remember this year. Remember to keep it local, treasure Trim and help to create a bigger and brighter future for the town," added Ms Bloomfield.
