Allen set to face contest for chair

Outgoing Co Committee chairman Barney Allen looks to set to face another battle to hold onto his seat with Trim's Brendan Dempsey indicating that he will run for the position again despite stating prior to last year's convention that he would not seek re-election to the chair again. Dempsey has indicated that out of courtesy to the clubs that nominated him he will allow his name stay in the running and after a difficult year at administrative level for Meath Co Committee the Trim man is hopeful of a strong showing. Last year Allen increased his mandate when he was the over-whelming popular choice for the role. One key position that will definetly see change is the role of PRO. Outgoing PRO Brendan Cummins has to step down from the position because of the GAA's five-year rule and there is a strong list of candidates including former PRO Barry Gorman and Hurling Committee PRO Martin O'Halloran.
